US University Pathways is excited to share a new partnership with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UW-La Crosse), aiming to streamline the admissions process and offer valuable scholarship opportunities. This collaboration focuses on supporting students from Forward International Academy (FIA) in their educational journey to UW-La Crosse.

Through this partnership, UW-La Crosse is offering renewable scholarships ranging from USD $2,000 to $5,000 per year to FIA applicants. These scholarships are designed to recognize international students’ achievements and help them improve the financial burden of pursuing higher education in the US. In addition to the scholarship opportunities, FIA students will also benefit from receiving a conditional admission letter to UW-La Crosse and a third-party credential evaluation waiver. These benefits aim to simplify the admissions process as they transition to UW-La Crosse.

This partnership between US University Pathways and UW-La Crosse highlights a shared commitment to expanding access to quality Wisconsin education and attracting international students to Wisconsin. Born in China, Dr. Liang found his educational journey in the Badger State and would go on to champion the cause of Wisconsin education. From UW-Platteville to Edgewood College and Madison College, each institution left an incredible mark on him, shaping his vision for US University Pathways.

Recognizing the transformative power of his Wisconsin education experience, Dr. Liang set out to share this gift with the world. Dr. Liang has experienced the challenges of language and cultural adaptation, he wanted to develop a company to equip future international students with the tools necessary to thrive in a university setting. In 2016, he founded US University Pathways to prepare future international students at the high school level with the Wisconsin curriculum, Wisconsin teachers, and Wisconsin culture. With a goal that international students who graduated from Wisconsin high schools in their home countries will more be motivated to continue their post-secondary education at Wisconsin universities.

As the years passed, Dr. Liang saw a challenge that many Wisconsin universities were facing. By 2023, the state will face the lowest number of high school graduates in the 21st century, risking the underutilization of the robust educational infrastructure painstakingly built by the Wisconsin government. Undeterred, Dr. Liang saw an opportunity – a chance for talented international students who could not only fill the enrollment gap but also enrich the campuses with diversity and contribute to the financial stability of these institutions.

At US University Pathways, the philosophy is rooted in the belief that education is not a privilege for the few but a right for all. Dr. Liang passionately advocates for the inclusion of international students, recognizing their potential to address the workforce shortage that Wisconsin companies are facing.

WATERTOWN, Wis. – A Ukrainian refugee is getting help with her education in Watertown without ever stepping foot in the United States.

“Wartime destroyed every plan for the future, not just for adults but for the children, too,” said Olga Lytvynova.

Lytvynova and her family were forced out of Ukraine by the war with Russia. They’ve settled for now in Warsaw, Poland. The war disrupted not only their lives but also, the education of Lytvynova’s 8-year-old daughter, Sophie.

“It’s a tough situation for the children,” said Lytvynova.

They have been in Poland for about a month.

Sophie’s education is getting back on track in Wisconsin. She’s a student of the Watertown School District even though she has never set foot on the eCampus Academy Charter School grounds.

“Only e-campuses give us the opportunity to continue the studying process,” said Lytvynova.

David Vitale is the assistant superintendent.

“Space and time is no longer fixed to a physical location with respect to learning,” said Vitale.

Vitale said they connected with Sophie’s mother through their partnership with U.S. University Pathways, an organization that connects international students to educational opportunities in Wisconsin.

“We were really humbled to help out,” said Vitale.

Sophie can connect to an instructor for science, math, social studies and English from her computer in Poland, while instructors for the school district have the option to set up in smaller classrooms.

“We take information from the families, and we make adjustments as their learning evolves,” said Vitale.

Vitale says the eCampus Academy Charter School hopes to continue to expand its international reach through summer and fall.

Lytvynova said she sees a positive change.

“I can see that Sophie has totally adored the program,” said Lytvynova.

She hopes other Ukrainian students impacted by the war are able to enroll, too.

“I think one thing we all share in common is we care about and love our kids,” said Vitale. “We understand that internationally.”
